Fujifilm X100V travel stories — Wildlife, Dust and Victoria Falls
The Fujifilm X100V is, and will probably be for a long time, one of the best travel cameras you can find on the market (if you can get your hands on one). Having shot with mine in several countries already, it was an obvious choice for our latest trip to Namibia. Yip, in Southern Africa, and yes, it’s a desert country. So we had lots of dust, everywhere, and tough living conditions for both the humans and cameras alike.
I was initially worried about the dust getting in everywhere on the camera, so I got my hand on the protector lens cover specifically for this X100V, which also completely weather-seals it. Well, I should rather say “kind of” weather seals it, but more on that later.
Our travels took us to the middle of nowhere with massive open landscapes and rolling rocky hills. This type of setting is great for any camera with a nice wide-open lens like the X100V has. The 35mm equivalent is an excellent format for people who enjoy zooming with their feet like I do. The camera offers several fun shooting options with a few film recipes already baked into the camera and others you can easily find on the web. Playing with the selection of film simulations even led me to try my hand at the cliche sunset photo or two!
